Community Development Workers Association Inc

Health

At mine closure, ComDev PT Batutua Tembaga Raya wants to leave behind healthy communities.  In close cooperation with the local Public Health Center (Puskesmas), the District Department of Health and the Sub director Malaria – a division of the MoPH in Jakarta, we aim to help realizing the Millennium Goals on the island of Wetar:

  • All babies, toddlers and fertile women get vaccinated according to the National Health Program through our island-wide immunization program.
  • Reduce child mortality and improve maternal health; safe delivery practices through intensive training of the community health workers, the traditional birth attendants and the local midwife.
  • Roll-back-malaria program thru island-wide mass blood tests with rapid malaria tests in 23 villages on the island and instant treatment of the positive cases; basic health education in the villages.
  • Raise awareness of a clean and sustainable environment, distribution of bed nets.
  • Creating healthy communities through:
  1. Basic Health Education in the schools at all levels.
  2. General consultations in the villages.
  3. Intensive training of the Puskesmas village staff.
