Health news: Puskesmas in Lurang – Wetar
On June 30 the new Puskesmas building (government health care center) had its “Soft Opening” as an assistant – puskesmas.
One midwife, one paramedic, one administrator and one nurse – all paid by the government will be responsible for the health care services. Upon request from the District Department of Public Health, the Community Development doctor working with PT Batutua will assist the medical team for two days a week. The ComDev doctor provides the medical team with training on a weekly base.
This Puskesmas in Lurang is a huge step forward in public health care for the villagers. From now on, the villagers don’t depend only on the Batutua camp clinic.
Once the District government has enough money, the Puskesmas Lurang will become a full-fledged public health care center.
